They say it never really touches you until it hits close to home. Well, it hit close enough for me - Sami Kuoppamaki, a legendary drummer on the Finnish music scene, was swept away with his family off the coast of Thailand. It's hard to describe what his music meant to a lot of us. Try to imagine the day Hendrix died and you wil have an idea. The band he was in, Kingston Wall, was one of the greatest rock bands I have ever heard and very spiritual in lyrics and sound. They never gained international fame as is the fate of most bands coming from small countries, but few were as good and profound IMO. I look at his smile on the album sleeve and I cry...
